ELTE has retained its previous year’s result, ranking once again in the 501–600 category of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in 2025.

Ten universities from Hungary made it onto the list of the world’s top 1,500 institutions, with Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) ranking 584th globally

Out of the 21,000 institutions assessed, ELTE ranked 508th, placing it in the top 2.4% of universities worldwide.

Out of 55 narrower fields of study, ELTE was the only Hungarian university to be ranked among the world's best in 2025.

In the 2024 academic subject rankings, ELTE achieved four absolute first places and one shared first place in the domestic field.

In the latest US News global ranking of higher education, Eötvös Loránd University leads the ranking of Hungarian universities this year

ELTE ranked 501-600th in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, continuing to outperform all Hungarian universities in terms of publication activity.

ELTE has ranked 190th in Quacquarelli Symonds' European ranking, making it the best university in Hungary in its regional ranking.

In the 2024 edition of the Impact Rankings of Times Higher Education, ELTE is again ranked 401-600, maintaining its position of the previous year.

ELTE has improved its position by about 140 places compared to last year's result, ranking 564th in the Quacquarelli Symonds world ranking this year.

ELTE has secured the 544th place in the CWUR global higher education rankings this year, placing it within the top 2.6% of universities worldwide.

Eötvös Loránd University jumped ahead more than 300 places and obtained the 259th place in the overall ranking.
