ELTE faculty interested in designing a collaborative online course with an international partner teacher can join the COIL course of Utrecht University free of charge during Spring 2026.
COIL courses are developed together with an international partner teacher, providing faculty an opportunity to look at course content from a new perspective. COIL involves students from different countries collaborating online, promoting intercultural skills and an open attitude.
To implement the COIL principles in their teaching, ELTE faculty can participate in the programme of the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning of Utrecht University, collaborating with international partner teachers. During this programme, each participant will create or (re)design (a part of) a course, module or project so that it is suited for collaborative online international learning (COIL).
The programme provides lectures and workshops from experts on COIL topics such as collaborative learning, intercultural skills and practical implementation. The programme also provides room to connect and exchange with fellow lecturers in an international environment. Participation in this course will require approximately 35 hours, spent attending four online sessions, preparing for the sessions, and designing the COIL course.
The four online sessions will happen via Teams in the following period:
- Monday, 9 March 2026, 13:15 – 16:15 CET
- Monday, 30 March 2026, 13:15 – 16:15 CET
- Monday, 20 April 2026, 13:15 – 16:15 CET
- Monday, 11 May 2026, 13:15 – 16:15 CET
The programme is free of charge, but participants are expected to invest time in this course and participate in all sessions. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate if you participated in all sessions.
Deadline of application: 10 October, 2026
